Gear Basics | FRCDesign.org
In FRC, the three most common types of power transmissions are gears, chain and sprocket, and belt and pulley. Although they all achieve the same end result of changing speed and torque, they each excel in different situations. In the following sections you'll be introduced to each of them and how to model them.
Gears | FRC Build System - WestCoast Products
You can change the speed and torque in a gear train by using different sized gears. The size ratio of two meshed gears will determine how much the speed and torque are changed. If two meshed gears are the same size, then speed and torque will remain the same.
Gears | 401 Docs
Spur gears are the most common gears in FRC. Spur gears produce no axial thrust. Pinions are input gears on motors (red). Bull gears or just gears are output gears driven by a pinion (blue). One other important takeaway from this animation is the directionality of rotation - meshed gears spin in opposite directions.

2013年5月20日 · In watch gears extra gap is to prevent tiny particles from getting trapped and jamming the gear train. In many gears, the clearance is cut into the gear by making the teeth narrower, so the optimum distance is the sum of the pitch radii.

Here is a handy calculator that lets you specify different drive train characteristics such as motor, robot weight, motors per side, wheel diameter, gear ratio, etc. It's intended to help pick batteries, but you can use it to determine the gearing you need to reach a target top speed.

Combine the WCP SS Flipped Gearbox with any WCP bearing block that has a 2" center to center and unleash the power and variability to make your perfect drivetrain! The tables below list possible gear ratios and associated free speeds for the SS Flipped Gearbox. The column headers show the gear sets for the first stage.

The only common metric gears in FRC is used in some of the automotive window & throttle motors. Module 1.25 gearing is the most similar to the 20dp gearing while module 1.0 gearing is equivlent to a 25.4dp.

Once a gear train is complete, the human player can turn the crank to start the rotor. Finally, robots can prepare for flight; they must latch onto their airship before the end of the match to signal they are ready for takeoff. Our project was to create a mechanism that would pick up a FIRST Steamworks gear from the ground with a partner.
