
The Facilitative Working Group | Local Communities and
The UNFCCC secretariat supports and facilitates the work of the body. FWG is comprised of 14 representatives, half of which are representatives of Parties, and half of which are representatives from indigenous peoples organizations.
The FWG is a unique body under the UNFCCC process, demonstrated amongst other things by the fact that it is the only constituted body co-chaired by a representative from the Parties and one from the Indigenous Peoples organizations (IPOs), and comprising of equal number of Party and IPO representatives. It operates based on consensus.

The FWG main membership of 14 is currently composed of 6 female representatives (5 indigenous peoples representatives and 1 Party representative) and 8 male representatives (2 indigenous peoples representatives and 6 Party representatives).
