It is located in the southwest corner of Cedar Valley about 50 miles (80 km) southwest of Salt Lake City and 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Cedar Fort on Utah State Route 73, west of Utah Lake.

Fairfield got its name from pioneer, Amos Fielding. The Tintic War occurred in February of 1856. Approximately four Utes, six white men and a twelve year old boy died. One third of the U.S. Army in 1858 was sent to Utah to put down the so called “Mormon Rebellion”.
