Regardless of how accurate the Laser Tracker is, the quality of the measurements is directly affected by the precision of the target. FARO® Spherically-Mounted Retroreflectors (SMRs) provide accurate, robust and affordable line of targets.

The FARO ® Laser Tracker measures the three-dimensional position of an optical target with a laser beam and two angular encoders. The target is also known as a spherically mounted retroflector (SMR). The Tracker emits a Helium Neon (HeNe) laser that is reflected back from the SMR. The Tracker senses the position of the return beam and follows it.

Each MetrologyWorks Laser Tracker SMR is compatible with all major OEM Laser Tracker brands, including FARO, API, and Hexagon (Leica). We offer three different SMR styles, all of which are available in 1.5”, 0.875”, and 0.5” sizes with multiple centering accuracies so you can choose the exact SMR that best suits your application and budget.
