The existence of two differentially spliced isoforms of FATP was verified by RT-PCR amplification of 3T3-L1 adipocyte RNA. A primer complimentary to a portion of exon 4 of the FATP gene was used to reverse transcribe total RNA. FATP cDNA was then PCR amplified using primers complementary to exons 1 and 3 (E1 and E3).
