Long-chain fatty acid transport protein 4 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SLC27A4 gene. [5][6] This membrane protein is also called FATP4 or ACSVL5 (very long chain fatty acyl-CoA synthetase 5).

The transporter for long-chain fatty acids in the apical side of the mature enterocyte is fatty acid transporter protein 4 (FATP4). In the human, there is a family of six homologous transporters (FATP1 through FATP6) and they occur variously in all the fatty acid utilizing tissues in the body.
