Introduced in August 1989, The SE FDHD was an update to the SE. It added a single 1.4 MB floppy drive and standardized the previously optional 40 MB hard drive. The earlier SE cannot properly use 1.4 MB floppy disks. Both models can use 400K SSDD (Single-Sided/Double Density) disks.
