The FDX node consists of an R-PHY remote PHY device (RPD) plus a launch amplifier. Yes, that is your typical R-PHY node. Notice that there are no active devices such as trunks, bridgers or line extenders between the R-PHY and Tap at Interface E where the drop to the cable modem (Interface F) occurs.

FDX nodes can be placed anywhere in the network where the 10G Ethernet overlay exists. The FDX nodes connect directly to the 10G Ethernet overlay and then distribute 10 Gbps service to subscribers over coax as if it were node + 0 from the FDX node.
