The McLaren F1 GTR is the racing variant of the McLaren F1 sports car first produced in 1995 for grand touring style racing, such as the BPR Global GT Series, FIA GT Championship, JGTC, and British GT Championship. It was powered by the naturally aspirated BMW S70/2 V12 engine.

The fact that the F1 GTR entree by Tokyo Ueno Clinic Team went on to win the famed endurance classic at the first attempt underlined the integrity of the original design. There was also a simple moral correctness to such a car being victorious at Le Mans: the F1 GTR was essentially a road car, which is what Le Mans had originally been about.

2019年8月8日 · BMW had famously supplied McLaren with engines for the F1 supercar and, in 1996, the German firm decided to enter two GTRs for the Le Mans 24 Hour race. Although owned by BMW, the cars were campaigned in a works capacity by Team Bigazzi. Bigazzi were the Italian outfit that handled BMW’s German Super Touring programme.

The BMW McLaren F1 GTR Race Car '97 is a race car produced by BMW and McLaren. It first appeared in Gran Turismo 4 Prologue (where it was named as BMW McLaren F1 GTR FINA (Long) '97), and is featured in the subsequent mainline games except for Gran Turismo Sport.
