The Kingdom of Illyria was a crown land of the Austrian Empire from 1816 to 1849, [1] the successor state of the Napoleonic Illyrian Provinces, which were reconquered by Austria in the War of the Sixth Coalition. It was established according to the Final Act of the Vienna Congress.

In classical and late antiquity, Illyria (/ ɪˈlɪəriə /; Ancient Greek: Ἰλλυρία, Illyría or Ἰλλυρίς, Illyrís; [1][2] Latin: Illyria, [3] Illyricum) [4] was a region in the western part of the Balkan Peninsula inhabited by numerous tribes of people collectively known as the Illyrians.

Illyria, officially named the Kingdom of Illyria, is a secondary constituent of the Austro-Hungarian Dual Monarchy, under the control of the Austrian Crown. It is located in the Balkans, and borders Austria and Hungary to the north, Serbia to the east and Albania to the south.

The Kingdom of Illyria was created in 1816 by Emperor Franz I from the Austrian possessions along the coast of the Adriatic Sea, together with parts of present Italy, Croatia, Austria and Slovenia.
