Flowering cherry refers to several species of deciduous trees from the Prunus genus. These species are mostly native to China, Korea, and Japan, or have been grown and cultivated there. Although some types of flowering cherry produce fruit, it is usually too tart for human consumption. Flowering cherry trees can grow up to 50ft tall and have white, pink, or magenta-pink flowers that bloom in spring.
