Staff Sergeant Floyd M. Talbert (August 26, 1923 – October 10, 1982) [2] was a non-commissioned officer with Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II. Talbert was portrayed in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers by Matthew Leitch.

Floyd Talbert: Floyd Talbert was one of the members of E company 506th Regiment, 101 Airborne Division. He was one of the few members of Easy company who just dropped out of sight after wwII. In 1981 he took part of the reunion of Easy. It was his last one.

Basically all of these accounts stop mentioning Talbert after the crossroads battle on “The Island”, only to be brought up again much later when he replaces Lipton as 1st Sergeant. What we know is that by September of 1944, he was the platoon sergeant of 1st Platoon:

Talbert's famous commander, Major Dick Winters, praised Floyd to the skies in his 2006 war memoir "Beyond Band of Brothers" acknowledging him as "the senior noncommissioned officer in Easy Company and the one paratrooper whom I considered the finest soldier in the company."

After graduation, Floyd Talbert worked for Union Carbide at Haynes Stellite, but intrigued by a new military group called “Airborne Troops”, he joined the Easy Company to take the initial training at Toccoa Fields. He died on October 18, 1982 in Shasta, Shasta County, California, of the aftermath of cardiac complications.
