Adenosine deaminase for diagnosis of tuberculous pleural effusion…
Pleural fluid adenosine deaminase (ADA) is a useful diagnostic test for tuberculous pleural effusion (TPE), but its exact threshold and accuracy in clinical decision-making is unclear. We aimed to assess diagnostic performance of ADA in TPE and …
Adenosine Deaminase (ADA) Level in Tubercular Pleural Effusion
Pleural fluid ADA level was more than 36 IU/L in cases of tubercular pleural effusion. It ranged 36 to 229.7 IU/L. While in case of malignancy it was more than 18.5 IU/L (18.5 to 87.6 IU/L). In one case of hypoproteinemia it was 9.21 IU/L. When 36 IU/L is taken as cut off point, sensitivity and specificity of ADA for TB is 100% and 77.7%.
Diagnostic value of serum adenosine deaminase level in …
In some studies, the level of adenosine deaminase (ADA) in sputum and effusion liquids was used for the diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB). But it is not always possible to access these materials. The goal of this study is to assess the diagnostic value of serum ADA levels in pulmonary TB patients.
Diagnostic value of adenosine deaminase in tuberculous and …
2012年10月1日 · This study indicates that the ADA levels of the pleural fluid can be used with high diagnostic rates in the diagnosis and exclusion of the tuberculosis in the patients whom the pleural tissue could not be obtained with various causes in the differential diagnosis of TPE and MPE and those with waiting for the laboratory outcomes of the pleural ...
Tuberculous and Malignant Pleural Effusions With Adenosine
2025年4月7日 · Background: The diagnosis of tuberculous pleural effusion (TPE) often relies on pleural fluid adenosine deaminase (ADA) levels. The diagnostic utility of ADA, however, is influenced by the prevalence of tuberculosis (TB) in local populations. Malignant pleural effusion (MPE) cases can exhibit moderately elevated ADA levels comparable to those seen in TPE.
Factors affecting pleural fluid adenosine deaminase level and the ...
2013年11月16日 · Adenosine deaminase (ADA) is useful in the diagnosis of tuberculous pleural effusion (TPE). This study aims to determine the factors affecting pleural fluid ADA levels and to establish the optimal ADA levels for diagnosis of TPE for different age groups. This was a retrospective study from January 2007 to October 2011.
Tuberculous Pleurisy: the role of the ADA Enzyme in Diagnosis …
Pleural fluid analysis helps narrow down the diagnosis specifically to TB pleuritis when ADA levels are significantly elevated. High pleural fluid ADA specificity reduces the likelihood of misdiagnosis and unnecessary treatments such as empiric anti-TB therapy in non-TB cases.
Validation of a diagnostic flowchart for tuberculous pleurisy in ...
2024年11月1日 · Adenosine deaminase (ADA) in pleural fluid is a useful marker for diagnosing tuberculous pleurisy. However, recent studies have reported a lower specificity of pleural fluid ADA levels.
Diagnosis of tuberculous pleural effusions: A review
2021年6月25日 · Patients with a high suspicion of TB and with pleural fluid ADA levels >70 U/L, especially those in endemic areas, should be considered for empiric anti-tuberculosis treatment. If the ADA level is indeterminate (40–70 U/L), further interventions depend on the pre-test probability of TB.
Adenosine deaminase for diagnosis of tuberculous pleural effusion…
2019年3月26日 · Pleural fluid adenosine deaminase (ADA) is a useful diagnostic test for tuberculous pleural effusion (TPE), but its exact threshold and accuracy in clinical decision-making is unclear. We aimed to assess diagnostic performance of ADA in TPE and to clarify its optimal diagnostic threshold.
