Jun 27, 2021 · Focus by wire doesnt mean that the focus distances cant be linear. It simply means it’s conveyed electronically. Generally, the older lenses that used focus by wire didnt use a linear scale. They’d speed up if you twisted the focus very fast etc. Basically adapt to your need for speed or precision. Was seen as a perk of the system at first.
