2010年2月16日 · As noted, a 460 has the water outlet on the intake and a small piece of straight bypass hose running from the intake to the water pump. 400 has the water outlet on top of the block, right of the distributor. A 400 is a fat 351C - similar external appearance. IIRC - a 400 will have 8 valve cover bolts and a 429/460 7.

2005年5月7日 · In typical Ford fashion, anything that CAN be different... WILL be different. Years ago, I swapped a 460 in place of a 400 in a 1973 LTD. It bolted right up to the trans, but if it weren't for a 460 powered parts car, I never would have gotten it to work. Be ready for a battle... especially if you have power steering, etc.

2003年9月12日 · To use the 400 bell with a 460 in a truck, follow these simple instructions. Make sure your 460 is internally balanced. Run a 390 Flywheel, but call L&L enterprises and order their ring gear. The 390 ring gear will eat starters. Run a 400 diaphram clutch. Need it to be able to fit it all in the shallower bell housing.

2010年6月17日 · 302 weighs about 460 lbs. The other is a guess - iron 460 comes in around 700 lbs, you could probably knock 100~150 lbs off with aluminum. Guess about the same an an iron 351C. You might save 100 grams per piston, so I wouldn't worry about those too much as a factor in total weight. Better for operation though.

2008年11月18日 · The 400 is obviously better, it has a extra 50 cubic inchesof displacement and the half inch of stroke on the grank that gets that displacement. So the 400 makes more power. That and it just sounds more impressive to say 400 vs 351M. Besides people may not know what your talking about with the 400, they are absolutly lost when you say 351M.

2007年12月2日 · Pistons and crank (429 or 460) must be changed as a set; all other parts (rods, oil pumps, timing covers, etc.) are interchangable. This assumes 1978 and earlier 429/460's. The D9TE-AB (1979 and up) 460 blocks cannot accomodate a 1978-earlier crank without some clearancing of the crankcase.

The current M-block flywheel service part (E5TZ-6375-H) has holes drilled and tapped for both 351M and 400 pressure plates. When the 351M was introduced in 1975, it used the same flexplate as the 400.

2003年6月22日 · FORD returned to racing in 1960 and ran the STARLINER with the 352/360HP. The FORD was much lighter than the BIRD. FORD had serious intentions in 1957/58 as the solid lifter 352 put out more than the rated 300HP (derated with hydraulics after ban) and the 361 was a 390 in the coming.
