M151A2 (1968) – The A2 fielded a significantly revised rear suspension that greatly improved safety in fast cornering. The M151 now had Semi-trailing arm suspension. Many smaller upgrades including improved turn signals.

The M151 Truck, Utility: 1/4 ton, 4x4 (MUTT) for "Military Utility Tactical Truck", was a cold war 4×4 military utility vehicle developed by Ford. It was reputed lighter than the Jeep with an empty curb mass of 1,100 kg to be airlifted.

2020年1月23日 · After a decade of testing and research, in 1960 the U.S. Army began fielding the 1/4-ton utility truck with independent suspension that it thought it wanted – the Ford M151 Military Utility Tactical Truck (MUTT). By 1964, the vehicle had been redesigned with a heavy duty rear suspension, and re-designated the M151A1.

The M151 was developed and originally built by Ford, although in later years, it was built by Kaiser and AM General. This family of M151 'Jeeps' was powered by a 2.3L inline four engine sending drive to all four wheels. Later M151A1 and M151A2 variants addressed stability issues among other improvements. Production of the M151 lasted until 1988.

2017年3月14日 · The final generation of 1/4-ton vehicles fielded by the U.S. military had its own name, the MUTT (Military Utility Tactical Truck). The independent “A” frame used on M151s and M151A1s was replaced with a sem-trailing arm suspension.

This 1971 Ford M151A2 is a Military Utility Tactical Truck (MUTT) that is finished in green, brown, and black camouflage over tan canvas upholstery and is powered by a 142ci inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a lever-actuated transfer case.

The M151A2 was the final version in the M151 Mutt series and ended production in 1978. The main external identifying feature between the A2 and the earlier M151A1 , was the addition of a much larger turn signal on the A2's front fender.
