2021年4月12日 · The FX4 does have a stiffer suspension which I didn't need and didn't want to spend the extra money. I got an STX and I'm perfectly happy with the ride. A few trucks ago I got a new 2002 Ranger with the off-road package and it rode like a cement mixer.

2021年11月4日 · My question is about the published ground clearance of 8.9 inches on 4x4 Rangers. For XL AND XLT trims the FX4 package comes with 265/65R17 tires, while the 4x4 comes with 255/65R17 tires. It seems these 2 tires have a difference in diameter of 0.5 inches (30.1 vs 30.6) which would equate to ~0.25 inches difference in ground clearance.

Now if you want to save money and you don't do any serious offroad, a standard, non FX4 Ranger with 4WD, optioned with a rear locker is a smart choice. You can then purchase the Ford Performance Fox 2.0 suspension kit, which also lifts the front.
