Jackson DeForest Kelley (January 20, 1920 – June 11, 1999) was an American actor, screenwriter, poet, and singer. He was known for his roles in film and television Westerns and achieved international fame as Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy of the USS Enterprise in the television and film series Star Trek (1966–1991). Kelley was born in Atlanta, Georgia.

DeForest Kelley died at age 79 of stomach cancer in his home in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles on June 11, 1999. He was the most well-liked of the Star Trek (1966) cast and the only one that no one had a feud with at any point.

Jackson DeForest Kelley was born in Toccoa, Georgia, to Clora (Casey) and Ernest David Kelley. He graduated from high school at age 16 and went on to sing at the Baptist church where his father was a minister. At age 17, he made his first trip outside the state to visit an uncle in Long Beach, California.

DeForest Kelley was an American actor, screenwriter, singer, and poet. He is best known for portraying Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy in Star Trek franchise TV series. He was discovered by a Paramount Pictures scout while he was shooting a United States Navy training film.
