A good start to formatting is figuring out how to do it quick and easy, so that it doesn’t take you longer to format your post than it did to right it (this is especially true with long threads). I find that keyboard shortcuts are the best way to do this.

Here's how to do bold, italics, and other things. Use _underscores_ or /slashes/ to italicize text. Use __two underscores__ to bold text. Use ___three underscores___ to do both. Use ~~two tildes~~ to strike out text. *Asterisks* denote an action done by a character. Pressing Enter will send your message.

if you want to preserve color text in your partner’s reply, click on edit reblog and switch to the html editor without touching anything. copy the code, paste it in the rp formatter to trim, write and format your reply as usual. this post explains it in detail.
