In World War II, most of Foy was occupied by German forces during the Battle of the Bulge. The U.S. 101st Airborne Division held the Bois Jacques just outside town. After being relieved by General George S. Patton 's U.S. Third Army, the 101st retook the town.

In difficult weather conditions on 13 January 1945, the 506th PIR attacked Foy, which was still occupied by German troops. Company ‘E’ and ‘I’ were tasked with leading the assault on the village under covering fire to definitively repel the enemy out, once and for all.

2015年12月12日 · Stephen Ambrose’s Band of Brothers describes how its Easy Company of the 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment led the assault to capture the town in January 1945.
