Francis "Frank" Algernon West is the protagonist of Dead Rising, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, and Dead Rising 4.

Frank returns as the protagonist of Dead Rising 4, in which he now works as a college photography teacher and returns to Willamette 16 years after the events of the first game, only to be caught in the middle of another zombie outbreak.

In September 2021, Frank West, a former photojournalist now working as a college professor, is approached by one of his students, Vicky "Vick" Chu, who convinces him to help her investigate a military compound, situated on the outskirts of Willamette, Colorado — the site of the second zombie outbreak.

Because the game was written by assholes, Frank reflects the attitudes of the writers. No tj, no frank. The fans as interpretted by others, a subset of this community absolutely lusts for DR1 Frank's character. They gutted him out but in their head it was improvement.

Dead Rising 4 is the fourth game in the main Dead Rising series. Announced at E3 2016, it's set almost a year after Dead Rising 3, and a full 16 years after the events of the original Dead Rising. A 52-year-old Frank West makes his return as the game's protagonist.
