Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) is one of the world's largest urban fire and rescue services and is the busiest in Australia. Our overriding purpose is to enhance community safety, quality of life, and confidence by minimising the impact of hazards and emergency incidents on the people, property, environment and economy of NSW.

Permanent firefighters are full-time firefighters who stay at the fire station. They are usually based around highly populated areas. Recruitment is on a yearly basis. On-call firefighters respond from home or work to the fire station when there is an emergency. Recruitment is all year round based upon your closest fire station.
