Frome (/ ˈfruːm / ⓘ FROOM) is a town and civil parish in Somerset, England, on uneven high ground at the eastern end of the Mendip Hills and on the River Frome, 13 miles (21 km) south of Bath. The population of the parish was 28,559 in 2021. [1] Frome was one of the largest towns in Somerset until the Industrial Revolution.

Planning your visit - Frome Museum
We are located in the centre of the town in our historic listed building, the old Frome Literary and Scientific Institution. There is a public car park nearby. The building is on the corner of North Parade and Bridge Street, with access is via the door in North Parade. The Museum is free to visit, but all donations are appeciated.

Between around 1550 and 1750, the town was famous for the production of pils cloth and a major regional employer. Of course, that in part explains why Frome has more listed buildings than any other town in Somerset.
