The Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) published updated Emergency Contraception (EC) guidance March 2017. The document is designed for professionals providing EC to summarise the FSRH guidance and provide information of pathways to the different options in the guidance so that patients can be signposted or referred appropriately.

New UK guidelines on EC published - ECEC

2024年11月12日 · FSRH Clinical Guideline: Emergency Contraception. Patients aged 13 and older can access these service arrangements for EHC by CPs. However, all CPs must be aware of child protection issues and the capacity to consent. Concerns must be raised through the appropriate channels as local policy.
EC is indicated if there is UPSI or barrier failure during, or in the 28 days following, use of liver enzyme-inducing drugs. Offer a Cu-IUD (unaffected by liver enzyme-inducing drugs) or a double dose (3 mg) of LNG-EC. UPA-EC is not recommended in this situation. Resource 1 (page 48).
