Nov 25, 2024 · They had cap space for last year and this year, and more importantly the fact that FVV agreed to 3rd year team option allows Rockets to essentially use him as a massive expiring filler now if the opportunity arises - it makes them completing a big deal so much easier this year. If that opportunity doesn't arise, they just move on.

May 26, 2024 · FVV has a team option in year 3, Kyrie has a player option. That's 120m guaranteed for Kyrie, and only 82 for Fred. Now if the team picks up that option, Fred will make more on that contract, though Kyrie has the flexibility to opt out and renegotiate. Houston can decline Fred's final year and negotiate. Kyrie's contract is better overall.

Mar 6, 2025 · FVV has NEVER been a liability... FVV has always been a fantastic defender, people should really watch tape when FVV was younger, he played textbook defense. He was instrumental in our 2019 run, we don't win in 2019 without him, and the box+1 doesnt work without him. He's probably been one of the more underrated guard defenders in recent memory.

Feb 8, 2025 · FVV has a TO for next year and Houston will likely decline it. There aren't a lot of teams with cap space and the apron is clearly affecting the market. I can see him getting GTJ'd in the off season and settling for a much smaller contract.

On the other end, Brunson is a mediocre defender at best whereas FVV has been a very good defender and could potentially make an All-Defence team.
