The Focke-Wulf Fw 190, nicknamed Würger[b] (Shrike) is a German single-seat, single-engine fighter aircraft designed by Kurt Tank at Focke-Wulf in the late 1930s and widely used during World War II. Along with its well-known counterpart, the Messerschmitt Bf 109, the Fw 190 became the backbone of the Jagdwaffe (Fighter Force) of the Luftwaffe.

The Fw 190 D (nicknamed the Dora; or Long-Nose Dora, "Langnasen-Dora") was intended to improve on the high-altitude performance of the A-series enough to make it useful against the American heavy bombers of the era.

The Focke-Wulf FW-190 not only was a superb daytime fighter but was also used extensively as a night fighter, interceptor, and ground attack aircraft on the Eastern, Western, and Italian Fronts.

The FW 190 was the only completely successful piston-engined fighter introduced by the German air force, the Luftwaffe, after World War II started. The Museum's Fw 190 F and D represent the "second-generation" Fw 190s which followed the Fw 190A into combat.

2016年4月18日 · The D for Dora variant of the famous Fw 190 fighter was nicknamed the Long-Nose by German pilots as well as the Allies. It was a departure from the radial-engine earlier variants and featured a more powerful inline engine, which gave the aircraft its characteristic long-nose shape compared to the iconic Fw 190A.

The Fw 190 A models should have been exchanged in preference to the long-nosed Fw 190 D or ‘Dora’. The D models, which in turn several 650-700 aircraft had been produced, started out from prototypes with the 1,776hp Jumo 213A-1 power plant, equipped by having an annular cooling air duct that serviced the ‘radial’ visual aspect.
