GSTEM is a deep, immersion program and research experience that runs six weeks. Beyond driving an intensive research project, campers pair with faculty and current student mentors from NYU and other local universities including Columbia, Fordham, and Pace. Applying for GSTEM admission is competitive (~40 are accepted each year).

G-STEM: The Global STEM and Multidisciplinary Studies Research Program seeks to prepare African-American women across all disciplines (STEM and non-STEM) to be globally engaged upon graduation from Spelman College.

Admission into the G-STEM Program as a G-STEM Scholar is a competitive process. Students must demonstrate maturity and the ability to meet G-STEM Scholar Expectations. GSTEM’s mission is founded on two concerns that women in STEM have brought up time and again – the lack of mentors and the lack of a peer network. Without these means of support, girls and young women in particular often drop STEM studies during college and do not pursue graduate degrees and STEM careers.
