Feb 22, 2005 · In the U.S. the first model year for the G55 was 2003, while the G500 was 2002. The members doing the complaining all seem to be in the U.S., and all seem to have MBUSA G500 from 2002 or early 2003. I notice no one with a G55 responded that their's sucks, so I guess I will continue with my observation. [8D]

Dec 31, 2006 · IMHO, if you're thinking of G55 and on-road use only, then i would get another car...like Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, or even Mercedes E63 AMG wagon, etc.. G55 AMG is only useful in the straight line...no matter what AMG does to G-wagen, G55 AMG is still a relatively top-heavy, poor handling, rough riding, fat-ass tank.

Jan 21, 2008 · The non kompressor G55 started in 2003 and DID NOT have the electrical problems as the 200-2002 W463's. However it had a very bad transfer case problem resulting in a service bulletin. If you elect to buy a non Kompressor G55, make sure it is one that has already had the transfer case problem resolved.
