The Gewehr 98 has two sling swivels, open front sights, and a curved tangent-type rear sight, known as the Lange Visier. The controlled-feed bolt-action of the Gewehr 98 is a distinct feature and is regarded as one of the major bolt-action system designs.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is an inverted “V” post set atop a raised base. The rear “roller coaster” sight is a sliding “V” notched sight escalator that is marked for differing elevations on the top, left and right of the sight base. The top of the base is marked from “5-20” and the sides are both marked from “4 – 20”, in increments of 2.

2020年4月8日 · My Spandau 1915 (with a Swed front sight) will shoot 1.5 MOA (1.5 inch groups) at 100 yds with my handloads. The rifle has a stone mint barrel. The Swed front sight, with the small flat on the top, works great with the Gew 98 rear sight using a 6 o'clock sight picture. Cartridge components consist of a 150 gr. Spitzer bullets with IMR 4895.

2014年7月9日 · These Lange-Visor sights are not commonly seen and not inexpensive when in VG or better condition. This is a $150 scope mount. Its scratch made and took a lot of time in and out of the milling machine to get it just right. And yet I have three areas that I want to change: 1-two screws instead of three.

2015年10月6日 · It is a gew 98 lange vizier style rear but is very different in many ways. It has a "take down" ring that is numbered on its edge 0-80 and the base is more narrow then a standard gew. It is numbered 1-22 on top . The sight leaf looks similar to peruvian mauser but has an early enfield or krag style adjustable v notch.

2023年1月30日 · G98 “Lange” rear sight graduations . . . . How is it that some of these “Lange” sights have “4” as their lowest setting, while others have “2” as their lowest? Giving a quick general answer---200m was the original setting for the 88 Patrone (old ammo). Upon phase-in of the S. Patrone in 1903, the minimum was changed to 400m.

2023年10月9日 · I’ve been looking for a nice set of Gew 98 night sights for a while. Found these guys. I was hoping for some thoughts on authenticity. They look ok to me. Would just appreciate verification. I noticed that the thread is not exactly seizing up due to excessive responses. I have handled a few sets of real ones both the machined and stamped versions.

2009年9月25日 · I can't think of a stronger and better suited rear sight base for a LER than the Gewehr 98. I was real pleased with it and especially pleased that the old beater rifle proved so dang accurate. The Czech-Persian 98/29 has a different rear sight base than the 98/22.
