The General Electric F101 is an afterburning turbofan jet engine. It powers the Rockwell B-1 Lancer strategic bomber fleet of the USAF. In full afterburner it produces a thrust of more than 30,000 pounds-force (130 kN). The F101 was GE 's first turbofan with an afterburner. [1]

Rated in the 30,000 pound thrust class, the F101 was the first GE-produced turbofan with an augmentor. Although the planned B-1A production program was terminated in 1977, four B-1 aircraft were built and flown through a complete operational flight test program.

The F101-GE-101 was introduced by General Electric from 1970. After testflights with 4 B-1B's, the USAF have GE the task to develop a improved version which became designated as the F101-GE-102. 469 of this type of engine has been manufactured to fit on the B-1B Lancer between 1983 and 1986.

2021年1月14日 · General Electric F-101 turbofan engines were developed for the Rockwell B-1A Lancer that was cancelled in 1977. GE re-engineered the engines for fighter aircraft under the Derivative Fighter Engine (DFE) program. The new F-101X DFE engine was fitted to the first full-scale development (FSD) F-16A (75-0745) which was known as F-16/101.
