The GE U33B is a diesel-electric locomotive that was offered by GE in 1966, featuring a 16-cylinder motor. It is 60 ft 2 in (18.34 m) long.

2025年1月2日 · The U33B was the fourth, and most powerful, 4-axle road switcher the company offered up until that time. When introduced in 1967, however, the industry was moving away from four-motored road-switchers. The U30C, and Electro-Motive's SD40 series, convinced railroads that high-horsepower, six-motored designs were the future in road service work.

Conrail inherited 123 U33B's from the Penn Central. The U33B's were powered with FDL-16 prime movers, producing 3,300hp. CR assigned them number series 2858-2970.

The horsepower race was in full swing by the late 1960s when GE introduced the 3,300hp, four-axle U33B locomotive. 137 units were produced between September 1967 and August 1970 when production ended. GE upped the horsepower ante in 1970 with the introduction of the 3,600hp U36B which was produced between May 1970 and December 1974.

U33B Phases. GE used a common body for the various U-boats, so this list is based on phases of the U30B. Phase II with the forward radiator intake mounted high had oil bath filters; low-mounted intake was for paper air filters.

General Electric U33B Diesels 2891, Class U-33-B, was built in September 1968, #36869, as Penn Central 2891, Class GF-33. It became Conrail 3891, Class U-33-B, in April 1976.
