This late 1960s vintage GEC Z8420, burning a 250w mercury vapour, still gives nightly service during the winter months on an industrial estate in Derby. The green glow suggests that the lamp has burned for many hours.

This is one of my favourite lights, it came from a petrol station a few years ago.

The subject is the replacement of one of the old Birmingham Stewart and Lloyds fluted steel columns with the old decorative stay-bar outreach, the square lantern having already been removed for spares or re-use, it's replacement is a modern GEC Z8420 over-shoe-cut-off lantern .

This version of the Z8420 (and Z8426, where a bowl is employed) features the characteristic fixed over-shoe, which was fixed in place, and allowed the canopy to hinge down forwards for maintenance.

Someone has written 1957 on the front in pencil, but I don't trust that date, as I know for fact that some of these lanterns (such as the Z8420) were introduced in 1961. It has Z484/10M.962 on the footer of the back page.
