
Pennsylvania Railroad class GG1 - Wikipedia
The Pennsylvania Railroad Class GG1 is a class of streamlined electric locomotives built for the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR), in the northeastern United States. The class was known for its striking art deco shell, its ability to pull trains at up to 100 mph, and its long operating career of almost 50 years.

The Pennsylvania Railroad's GG-1's were geared for 110 mph in passenger service and somewhat lower for freight. They were used in freight service when traffic conditions permitted; they were numbered 4800-4938. The GG-1s' service life lasted well into the 1970s, with the last ones retired in 1980.

This is a roster of known surviving GG1s and thier disposition. This page was updated 1/22/03. In failed attempt to purchase and move to CT, much scraping and painting was accomplished in 2001. Purchased by Henry Ford Museum announced in in 4-2008 and asbestos abated in 2008. As of 2-2013 still in Cooperstown.
