GLONASS-K2 is the next-generation satellite design intended to support the Russian GLONASS radio-based satellite navigation system. Developed by ISS Reshetnev (Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems), the first satellite was successfully launched on 7 August 2023 from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome with an expected production period of ten years.

GLONASS-K is a substantial improvement of the previous generation: it is the first unpressurised GLONASS satellite with a much reduced mass of 750 kg (1,650 lb) versus the 1,450 kg (3,200 lb) of GLONASS-M. It has an operational lifetime of 10 years, compared to the 7-year lifetime of the second generation GLONASS-M.

2024年12月22日 · Uragan-K or GLONASS-K (originally called Uragan-K) spacecraft are the third generation of GLONASS navigation satellites. These satellites have an increased lifetime of 10 - 12 years, reduced weight of only 935 kg and offer an additional L-Band navigational signal.

According to early plans for the modernization of the GLONASS system, the first two GLONASS-K1 modified satellites would be followed by further upgrades designated GLONASS-K2. That variant was expected to feature an unpressurized satellite bus and it would also introduce a new type of navigation signals with a so-called code-protected selection.
