2003年12月9日 · The G80 used in GM brand trucks combines the clutch plates of a traditional Limited Slip differential with the positive engagement of the traditional mechanical locker. It does this by using a mechanical flyweight and a governor inside the differential, hence the "Gov Lok."

I need to change the gear oil and I've read numerous GM bulletins saying not to add the friction modifer because the G80 in my truck is a locker not a limited slip like the G80 in cars. Apparently there is a lot of confusion on this but I know it says not to add the modifier.

In RWD the rear end still wants to swing out on turns, but moving from a stop wasn’t really an issue even when I had bald tires on it. To see of your truck has the G80, look at the service parts label in the glove box for G80 option code. That will be there if your truck originally came with a G80.
