Built in 1923, this loco was never a GNR locomotive, but received the GNR number 1472 which, along with the early L&NER lettering, were both located on the tender. The loco was renumbered as 4472 shortly after. Although the nameplate is fitted here, it is possible that 1472 never ran with nameplates, only gaining them when renumbered.
