
GNR Class J13 - Wikipedia
The Great Northern Railway (GNR) Class J13, classified J52 by the LNER is a class of 0-6-0 ST steam locomotive intended primarily for shunting. The Class J13 were introduced in 1897 designed by Henry Ivatt based on the earlier domeless GNR Class J14 (LNER Class J53).
The Stirling J52 & J53 (GNR J13 & J14) 0-6-0ST Locomotives
In 1897, Ivatt introduced a version of the J14 with a domed boiler, and this became GNR Class J13 (LNER J52). The new boiler was of the same length (10ft 6in) as that of the J14 boiler, but had a greater diameter (4ft 5in). A total of 85 J13s were built between 1897 and 1909.

Length: 31' 3 3/4"; width: 8' 7"; weight: 51 tons. The Class J13 was introduced by Henry Ivatt in 1897 for shunting and short trip-freights on the Great Northern Railway (GNR).
J52 68757 – 68889, 1, 2 & 9 0-6-0ST GNR Stirling & Ivatt
Eighty-eight were built between 1897 and 1909, and they were the GNR J13 class (LNER J52 class). These engines formed the J52/2 class which was established in 1940. Fifty-one of Stirling’s engines of 1892-1897 (GNR class J14 and LNER J53 class) were rebuilt with domeless boilers from 1922 until 1933.
