Temps are approaching the century mark as CHSX GP9U 2256 sits under a tree in Mitchell SD along the BNSF (ex MILW) line. This former Santa Fe GP9u has been at the CHS Inc. facility in Mitchell for many years.

2024年12月20日 · Local D 22 crosses the bridge over Wylie Creek with an unusual power set. D 22 rolls north behind the usual GP9, and an unexpected surprise, an ex SOO GP40. Train 166 eases up to Terrace Drive at the south end of East Binghamton, passing a yard job with a pair of GP 9 rebuilds. D 22 returns to Binghamton after a trip to Afton and Bainbridge.
GP9u 1691 - TrainWeb
Rebuilt by CP as GP9u, chop-nosed and renumbered to #1691 (1980). Sold to CIT (2002), rebuilt at Alstom Ogden Shops, Calgary AB. Leased back to CP. Retired (8/29/2012). Sent to SRY, New Westminster B.C., for parts salvage and scrapping.

EMD built the 2250 as ATSF 702 (s/n 21572) in May 1956 and delivered it in zebra stripe paint. In late 1969-early 1970 it was renumbered to ATSF 2902. After mid-June 1972 it was repainted to blue-yellow warbonnet. On April 25 1978 the Cleburne TX shops rebuilt it as a GP9u and renumbered it to ATSF 2250.
