IC&E SD45 363 and GT SD40-2 5936, one of only a few still left in GT blue, sit at Homewood making another odd pairing. 363 was scarpped less then a year later. I almost had to rub my eyes after seeing this lash up coming. A very rare GTW SD40-2 accompanies some of its younger brothers on the WC.

Leading an eastbound mixed freight on the CSX mainline at Pine Junction. Canadian National 5285 and Grand Trunk 5933 lead a westbound train along the North end of Michigan State University. Freight consist led by Wisconsin Central #3014 creeps over the bridge spanning the Mississippi River from Dubuque, IA to East Dubuque.

The EMD SD40 is an American 6-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between January 1966 and August 1972. 1,268 locomotives were built between 1966 and 1972. In 1972, an improved version with new electronics was developed and marketed as a new locomotive, the SD40-2.

2009年2月20日 · After investigating the potential design changes needed for a dedicated group of locomotives, UP ordered 23 unique SD40-2B booster units, meant to operate singly between pairs of 6900 class units. These SD40-2B units were to be numbered as UP 3288B-3310B, and were expected to be delivered during May and June 1975.

2024年11月15日 · emd sd40 12 units purchased new in 1969, followed by 18 more in 1970. These 30 units were the only 6 axle locomotives purchased new by the GTW, and were the first 2nd generation units owned by the GTW.
