The Ford GTX1 was a roadster version of the First Generation Ford GT. The GTX1 was created as a show car for the 2005 SEMA show, but eventually garnered enough to demand to be produced in limited numbers. This production was done by Gennadi Design Group, who modified the GT in order to create a working and well-executed roadster.

The GTX1 category is exclusively designed for four top-tier GT Cup cars: Ferrari 488 Challenge, Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo, McLaren Artura Trophy and Porsche 911 Cup (992). Participation in the GTX1 Cup Portimao is open to all drivers with a national licence and above.
