2012年8月26日 · The George Washington University revealed its new visual identity on Sunday after two years of research, university-wide collaboration and design. George Washington President Steven Knapp unveiled the university’s new look and logo in the Marvin Center in front of hundreds of GW students, faculty, staff and alumni.

The new portrait is based on the most accurate representation of George Washington, the Houdon sculpture, a replica of which is in University Yard. The current logo, with its thin font and lines, also doesn’t translate well online or on TV.
