Below is a list of all 171 GWR Castle Class engines, built between August 1923 and August 1950. Five of these were converted to burn oil for a short period in the 1940s. Unlike most other locomotives so converted, they were not renumbered.

Wheel Arrangement Information - Steam Locomotive
The ownership of the ex GWR Large Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5164 has now been transferred to the Erlestoke Manor Fund following a deal reached with the locomotive’s previous owners the 5164 Preservation Group. No. 5164’s long term future at the Severn Valley Railway is now secured and will now soon be in line for a overhaul.
