
9682 – Preserved British Steam Locomotives
9682 was built at Swindon at a cost of £5,280 and entered service in May 1949. BR motive power depot allocations since 1948. 9682 was withdrawn in August 1965 having covered more than 250,000 miles and sent to Barry scrapyard. It was bought by the GWR Preservation Group in 1982 and, after overhaul at Southall, returned to traffic in 2000.

Pannier no. 9682 Arrives at Norchard! - Dean Forest Locomotive Group
On Sunday 14th April 2019, the Dean Forest Locomotive Group’s latest acquisition arrived at our DFR headquarters at Norchard station. Appropriately hauled by ex-GWR ‘Small Prairie’ no. 5541, BR Pannier no. 9682 was gently transported from Lydney Junction along with the Toad brake van which was purchased together with the locomotive.

Steam Locomotive Information
The overhaul on ex GWR 5700 Class 0-6-0PT No. 9682 is now underway as the locomotive is being stripped down to the frames for the overhaul to commence in full. The Dean Forest Railway has also started a fundraising campaign to help with the overhaul of No. 9682 which details can be found on their website and social media pages.

2021 – GWRPG and its stock movement | National Preservation
