Gafsa (Arabic: قفصة qafṣah/gafṣah Gafsˤa ⓘ) is the capital of Gafsa Governorate in Tunisia. With a population of 120,739, Gafsa is the ninth-largest Tunisian city and is 335 km from the country's capital, Tunis.

Gafsa Oases (Arabic: واحة قفصة, French: Oasis de Gafsa) are date palm oases at Gafsa in southwestern Tunisia, near the northern edge of the Sahara Desert. The Gafsa Oases were known to the ancient Romans and cover approximately 700 hectares. [ 1 ]

Gafsa is a noted irrigated fruit-growing oasis and a major shipping centre for phosphates obtained from the salt flats of Chott El-Jarid (Shaṭṭ Al-Jarīd). It is connected to the port of Sfax (Ṣafāqis) by road and rail. The surrounding area includes many rich phosphate-mining concessions.

Gafsa Governorate (Tunisian Arabic: ولاية ڨفصة Wilāyat Gafṣa; French: Gouvernorat de Gafsa) is one of the 24 governorates of Tunisia. It is situated in central Tunisia, bordering Algeria.

2014年12月1日 · Gafsa is the main city of its region, and the centre of the profitable phosphate industry. Unlike the towns closer to the mines, Metlaoui and Moulares, it has not been turned into a dust hell. Gafsa is a modern town, busy and friendly, but without many tourists.
