2010年11月10日 · I'd leave it closed. I find that my furnace itself (located in the garage) keeps the garage pleasantly warm even with the garage vent closed. If the furnace was in the house, I might leave a vent open though (to keep the cars from leaking coolant from the hose/tube junctions, which they're prone to doing on those really cold days if not kept warm).

The garage gets so hot that I think you should keep the ventilation separate from the rest of the house. Also there may be code requirements to separate the garage from the living space due to fumes.

Absolutely put in gable vents or at the very least drill 200 small holes in a rectangular pattern in each gable...angled down if drilling from the inside or angled up if drilling from the outside, to keep water out. Finally, you'll want to insulate the garage door with foam board & make sure the entire door's perimeter is sealed.

2013年11月18日 · Definitely close off the ceiling rather than plugging the vents, IMHO. The "fanfold" insulation [typically 1/4" X 4ft X 50 ft - R1 possibly some thicker versions available, on a quick look around - thicker would of course be higher R-value, as well] intended for use under siding (and sometimes roofing) might be another option, in larger sheets (less joints to seal.)

2019年9月20日 · Hi, my garage door doesn’t seem to close all the way by a 2-4 inches. I just had the garage remodeled and wanted to see how I can fix this before dirt starts going inside the garage. Can the exhaust duct of an ERV vent *into* the garage?
2023年11月21日 · They are suppose to bring in fresh air into the house, usually required for a very well seal house. A garage with a car warming up in it will probably defeat this propose. If the two vents are separated and only the exhaust is in the garage, with intake outside, then it should be okay. I imagine the garage does get aired out often. –
