I am using a 2x6s to secure bottom ledger into the header of the garage door, but there are only 2×4 s for the top ledger. I plan to run some 2×6 inside the garage vertically so the top ledger can sink into more than 2x4s.

However that overhang may well be what keeps the existing wood siding dry and in fair shape, as well as stopping water from penetrating the wall. Think through carefully where you cut the overhang back to.

I think the most likely answer is to spray foam under the overhang, just like the heated portion of the house. This should bring the sheathing above dewpoint and hopefully stop condensation. 2018年9月18日 · If the door is close to an overhang above, the flashing could probably be omitted. I'm still not understanding where you are seeing daylight at the door track. They typically are mounted to brackets fastened through the drywall, and the door overlaps the 2"x trim.

Your garage roof should reference your house roof (it can be a little different with an overhang) but by choosing a gable design the height of the eave over the garage doors will better protect them from rain (rather than the two story height of the shed roof).

2019年7月27日 · If not, a 3 ft overhang as the eaves and a 2ft one on the gables would be easier and sturdier. You can use a beefier finished fascia to contribute to the rigidity of the gable ends. A 2"x8" attached to the rough fascia will help a lot. If they fit with the rest of the architecture, Craftsman style brackets would allow any depth overhang you wanted.
