2021年11月25日 · Post-hardcore/emo veterans Planes Mistaken For Stars have announced the passing of lead singer, guitarist, and co-founder Gared O'Donnell, who had been diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer last summer. He was 44. A statement from the band reads as follows:

While rooted in the post-hardcore and emo scenes of the turn of the century, Planes Mistaken for Stars developed a distinctive musical style strongly influenced by heavy metal and rock and roll.

2020年9月6日 · Gared pulls no punches talking the band’s association with emo saying, “I think we wanted to lean into the dark side of things because it made more sense to us.” On their rowdy days, he admits. “It was a circus act, it wasn’t a magic show.” He talks fondly on his time with bandmate Matt saying, “Matt walks on stage with me, every time I do.”
