It seems like they didn't want to have an inconsistency from the golden digimentals hurricane touchdown movie where Gatomon warp digivolve into Magnadramon. Could be much in the same way Japan thought the English word Tail sounded cool for the Digimon, the people responsible for localization thought the Spanish word for Cat(Gato) sounded cool.
