2013年5月1日 · Undeserved "WP" come off more as sarcastic taunting than encouragement. I see "gg wp" the most coming from teams that win by a landslide (more than twice the kills of the other team). I almost never see it in games that are actually close and well played or if I do, they actually say "well played".

It's the broader statement of "good game well played" coming from someone who won - to the losing team. It's not friendly banter, is plain bad manners. 2016年8月27日 · It's just good gaming etiquette. Like 'GLHF' (good luck, have fun) before the match, gg or ggwp after the match. Note that a simple GG is often just a courtesy, like shaking hands after a tennis match. GGWP usually means either of 'I acknowledge your skill' (most used by winning team) or 'we were simply outplayed' (most used by losing team).

Sending a private message to say "gg wp" after you LOST is wholesome. It's good sportsmanship and shows you are not salty about your defeat. Sending a private message to say "gg wp" after you WON is pretty cocky, and it comes off as rubbing your victory in their face. If nothing was said in endgame chat, just move on.

But I don't particularly care if someone says "gg" or "wp" instead. These are all just generic niceties, meant to be polite. Sometimes people will do it to be an ass, but that's exceedingly rare. At the end of the day, they all serve the same purpose -- a virtual, sportsman-like handshake.
