Ground-glass opacity (GGO) is a non-specific term defined by the Fleischner society as the presence on high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) of a hazy increase in lung density, not associated with obscuration of the underlying vessels or bronchial walls; if vessels are obscured, the term “consolidation” is preferred [1].
